Perth Scorchers:

Perth Scorchers are having a tough time this season as they are currently at 5th position on the points table with five wins and six losses and a total of 10 points.

In the last match, bowling first Scorchers bowled pretty well by picking up two wickets in the power play for just 29 runs. They picked up 3rd wicket in the 8th over and maintained pressure over the opposition. But after that, they managed to pick up only three wickets and gave away quite a few runs and restricted the opposition to a total of 141 runs in 20 overs. Mathew Kelly bowled brilliantly and picked up three wickets for just 27 runs in his four overs. Jhye Richardson and Fawad Ahmed picked up one wicket each.

With 142 runs to chase, Scorchers lost the wicket of Josh Inglis for 12 runs in the 3rd over, but they managed not to lose any more wickets in the power play and scored 41 runs. Cameron Bancroft and Kurtis Patterson batted sensibly in the middle overs by scoring 32 and 20 runs respectively. They played well until the 15th over by scoring 94 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, but after that, they lost five wickets for 35 runs and managed to score a total of 131 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by ten runs.

Perth Scorchers would want to win their next match against the Sydney Thunder and climb up the points table.

Sydney Thunder:

Thunder is also in a tricky position as they are currently at 4th position with five wins and five losses and a total of 11 points.

In the last match, bowling first Thunder picked up two wickets in 2 overs and put pressure on the opposition team. After 1.5 overs match got interrupted due to rain and the game was reduced to 18 overs per side. Even after the resumption of the game, Thunder bowled brilliantly and kept picking up wickets at regular intervals and got the opposition all out for just 76 runs in 15.5 overs. Daniel Sams bowled brilliantly and picked up three wickets for only 14 runs. Chris Morris picked up two wickets, Gurinder Sandhu and Brendan Doggett picked up one wicket each.

With 77 runs to chase in 18 over and with the kind of batting line up that Thunder has it looked a straightforward target to chase, but they lost the wicket of Alex Hales for a duck in the 1st over and in the 4th over they lost the wicket of Khawaja who scored 13 runs. After 5.3 overs they were 28 runs for two wickets and looked in trouble and then the rain started to fall again. The shower was quite heavy, and there was no chance to resume the match, so according to the rules of DLS method, Thunder was four runs ahead, and thus they won the match by four runs.

They would want to keep their winning momentum going by winning the next match against the Perth Scorchers and also climb up the points table.
