In the Eliminator match with Hobart Hurricanes, batting 1st Thunder batted well. In form openers, Khawaja and Hales scored 53 runs in the power play without losing a wicket. But in 10th over Khawaja got out scoring 54 runs off 34 balls but Hales continued scoring runs and got out in 15th over scoring 60 of 37 balls. Skipper Callum Ferguson also contributed with the bat scoring 33 runs, and Alex Ross, Chris Morris, Daniel Sams helped to put 197 on the board.

With 197 onboard, Thunder started bowling well with the new ball. Jonathan Cook got the early breakthrough for the Thunder by taking the wicket of Captain and inform hard-hitting batsman Matthew Wade in the 3rd over. Chris Tremain and Chris Morris also took wickets in successive overs(7th & 8th) and put pressure on the opponents. Jonathan Cook took 2 wickets in one over. Morris took 3; Sams took 2, and Tremain took 1 wicket.

Jonathan Cook, Chris Morris, Chris Tremain, and key bowler Daniel Sams impressed with their bowling and restricted the opponents to a total of 147 runs, which helped them to win the match by 57 runs. Cook was awarded the Man of the Match for his figures(4-0-21-4).
