The series has become more interesting as both the team want to win the final test. The one who wins the last match will take away the Wisden trophy and also win the series.

1st innings:

West Indies skipper Jason Holder won the toss and elected to bowl. England started well by not losing the wicket in the first ten overs, but they lost the wicket of Rory Burns in the 13th overs for 15 runs and the very next ball Zak Crawley got out for a duck. Joe Root and Dominic Sibley tried to stabilize the innings, but Root got out after scoring 23 runs. But Dominic Sibley 120 runs and Ben Stokes 176 runs batted beautifully by scoring hundreds and added 260 runs to the 4th wicket partnership. Later Jos Butler 40 runs and Dominic Sibley 31 runs helped England post a total of 469 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, and they declared the innings. Roston Chase bowled pretty well picking up a fifer for 172 runs. Kemar Roach after a long time picked up 2 wickets, Alzarri Joseph and Jason Holder picked up 1 wicket each.

2nd innings:

West Indies started well, but they lost the wicket of John Campbell for 12 runs in the 10th over. Then Alzarri Joseph was sent as night watchmen who did a decent job of not losing his wicket that day. The 3rd day got washed out due to rain. On the fourth day, Alzarri Joseph played pretty well but got out after scoring 32 runs. Later Shai Hope scored only 25 runs, but Kraigg Braithwaite at the other batted beautifully scoring 75 runs but got out before scoring a hundred. Shamarh Brooks 68 runs and Roston Chase 51 runs tried to hold on to the innings, but their lower middle order and tail-enders failed miserably and got out cheaply. However, they managed to avoid follow on by scoring a total of 287 runs. Stuard Broad and Chris Woakes were the leading wicket-takers picking up 3 wickets each, Sam Curran picked up two wickets. Dominic Bess and Ben Stokes picked up 1 wicket each.

3rd innings:

Leading by 182 runs, England changed their batting order by sending Ben Stokes and Jos Butler as the openers. But their tactics failed as Buttler got out for a duck. Later Zak Crawley 11 runs and Joe Root 22 runs couldn’t score much. It was Ben Stokes again who batted brilliantly by scoring 78* runs from just 57 balls and helped England post a target of 312 runs on the final day. Only Kemar Roach was able to pick up 2 wickets, and the rest went wicketless.

4th innings:

With 312 runs to chase, West Indies had a bad start as they lost the wicket of John Campbell for 4 runs and Kraigg Braithwaite for 12 runs in 8 overs. They also lost the wickets of Shai Hope for 7 runs and Roston Chase for 6 runs. West Indies were 37 runs for 4 wickets, and they were in deep trouble. But Shamarh Brooks 62 runs and Jermain Blackwood 55 runs played well and added 100 runs to the 5th wicket partnership. After Blackwood got out, it was the downfall for the West Indies team as they kept on losing wickets. Jason Holder with 35 runs tried to put up a fight, but it was of no use, and they got all out for a total of 198 runs and England won the match by 113 runs. Stuart Broad was once again brilliant with the ball as he picked up 3 wickets again in this innings too, Chris Woakes, Dominic Bess and Ben Stokes picked up 2 wickets each. Sam Curran managed to pick up 1 wicket.

Average 4th innings score: 167

The pitch here is generally considered to be helpful for the fast bowlers as it offers pace throughout the match. It won’t be easy for the batsmen, and they have to struggle for scoring runs whereas bowlers need to maintain good line and lengths and can get wickets.

There is a forecast of rain from the 2nd day onwards, and we can expect the game to be affected due to it.
