WI vs AUS 2nd ODI Match Preview

West Indies:

The Windies have started the series with a loss and looked very poor with the bat as they were bundled out for 123 runs while chasing a total of 253. They were fantastic with the ball and restricted the visitors to a below-par total.

Hayden Walsh Jr continued his dream run from the T20I series and picked up 5 wickets in his 10 overs. Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein also bowled very well and picked up 2 wickets each. All in all, they were good with the ball.

With the bat, both their top order and middle-order were dismissed cheaply, but their skipper Kieron Pollard played a fighting knock of 56 runs lower down the order but was not enough in the end. They have big names in their batting lineup who can chase any target on any given day but lack consistency and will look to bounce back in the 2nd game.

Australia:

For Australia, the huge positive for them will be Mitch Starc’s return to form as he bowled brilliantly and ended his spell with the figures of 5/48 in his 8 overs. Batting first, their openers Josh Philippe and Ben McDermott gave them a decent start of 51 runs.

Mitch Marsh batted at 3 and scored 20 runs and also picked up a wicket with the ball and is expected to play a key role in this game. Their stand-in skipper Alex Carey played a brilliant knock of 67 runs along with Ashton Turner who scored 49 runs which helped the team post a total of 252 runs.

Along with Mitch Starc’s fifer, Josh Hazlewood also bowled brilliantly and picked up three wickets from his six overs. The Aussies would be pleased with their performance in the first game and will look to win this game and seal the series.
