Jasprit Bumrah IPL Update: is an Indian professional cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the best fast bowlers in the world. He was born on December 6, 1993, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, and grew up in a middle-class family. He is dealing with a recurring lower back injury that has caused him to miss various tournaments. The medical staff from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru are treating his case with urgency. After experiencing recurring niggles in his lower back, which first surfaced as a stress reaction in August 2022, the medical staff has recommended the surgery option. The BCCI, in coordination with the NCA and Bumrah, is expected to make a final decision on the next steps soon, taking into account the ODI World Cup scheduled in India in October-November 2023.
Following his injury in August 2022, Bumrah attempted to make a comeback multiple times. Initially, the injury did not seem serious, and he was named in India’s T20 World Cup squad on September 12.To prove his fitness, Bumrah participated in the last two T20Is of the Australia series on September 23 and 25.. However, when the first T20I against South Africa took place in Thiruvananthapuram three days later, he was not present.. Scans later revealed a stress-related injury, and Bumrah was rushed to the NCA, where further scans confirmed the injury was severe, ultimately ruling him out of the T20 World Cup.
Despite starting rehab in November and beginning to bowl by mid-December, Bumrah was absent for the white-ball series against New Zealand (both away and at home), Sri Lanka (at home), and the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Team India and the bowler were also cautioned by former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar to effectively manage workload to prevent injuries. Akhtar pointed out that bowlers with a frontal action, unlike side-on action, depend on the speed of their back and shoulders, leaving little room for compensation. According to him, once the back starts to give in, the consequences cannot be avoided, no matter how hard one tries.
