Because due to a slow over-rate offense in the Christchurch Test, the ICC has penalized both New Zealand and England with 15% of their match fees and deducted 3 points from their WTC tally. This has significantly benefited the Indian team.
Before the Perth Test, India needed to win the series 4-0 against Australia to comfortably reach the WTC final. But now, even a 3-0 series win will be enough for them to qualify. This means India only needs to win at least 2 of the remaining 4 Tests.

- If India wins the series against Australia by a margin of 3-0, 4-0, 4-1, or 5-0, they will definitely qualify for the WTC final.
