Karim Janat Profile

Karim Janat is one of the most talented all-rounders in Afghanistan. He bowls right-arm fast and also bats in the top order. Janat is only 23 years old but has achieved a lot in this short span.

Domestic Career

He made his List-A debut in the 2017 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional Tournament and was also the joint highest wicket-taker along with Zahir Khan in the tournament with 12 wickets under his belt.

He made his first-class debut against England Lions on December 6th, 2017. Janat did not have a great outing on his debut and scored just 12 runs from his 2 innings and picked up 2 wickets.

A year later, Janat was also the highest wicket-taker for Kabul Region in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament in 2018 with 30 wickets in his 10 games.

In the 2018 Afghanistan Premier League, Karim Janat displayed his all-around talent and became very popular. In 2020, he also won the player of the tournament award in APL for his all-around show on the field.

He has played a lot of franchise cricket lately and has made his name in T20 cricket. Janat was also part of the recently concluded Everest Premier League. 

As of 2021, The Afghan all-rounder has played 24 first-class games and has scored 1250 runs at an impressive average of 43.10 and has picked up 55 wickets with the ball. Talking about his List A numbers, he has scored 955 runs and has picked up 34 wickets from his 24 games.

International Career

T20I Career

After his impressive performances in domestic and international cricket. Janat was quickly roped into the national team. He made his T20I debut for Afghanistan against the UAE on 14th December 2016.

Janat was excellent in his first game and picked up 3 wickets with the ball and played a brilliant knock of 25 with the bat batting lower down the order and also won the man of the match award on his dream debut. 

In December 2018, Janat was also part of the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup and represented Afghanistan Under 23 team.

He came into the bigger picture after he picked up his first T20I five-wicket haul against West Indies on 16th November 2019 and ended his spell with the figures of 5/11 in his 4 overs.

He is also part of the national team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Talking about his numbers, Karim Janat has played 25 T20Is as of October 2021 and has scored 194 runs with the bat and has picked up 26 wickets with the ball.

ODI Career

Karim Janat has not played much ODI cricket for his team and is known for his T20I performances. The only ODI he played was against Zimbabwe on 24th February 2017. He did not have a great debut game as he managed to score just 9 runs with the bat and went wicketless with the ball.
