Domestic Career
Mohammad Azharuddin is regarded as one of the most talented emerging players in the country. The wicket-keeper batsman made his first-class debut for his state team Kerala against Goa on November 15, 2015. He scored 31 runs in the match and played his part in the team’s victory. He has scored 959 runs from his 22 first-class games so far.
Later, in the same year, Azharuddin also made his List-A debut for Kerala against Haryana on December 6, 2015. He played a decent knock of 32 runs on his debut. Azharuddin has played 30 List-A games so far and has scored 585 runs at an average of 25.43. He is yet to score a hundred in this format.
After his impressive show in first-class and List-A cricket, he made his T20 debut for Kerala against Jammu and Kashmir on January 2, 2016. He managed to score just 14 runs on his debut.
Mohammad Azharuddin came into the limelight after his brilliant hundred against Mumbai in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His innings of 137 runs were praised by all. He also received appreciation from great players like Suresh Raina and Virender Sehwag.
He has totally scored 451 runs from his 24 T20 games which also includes a brilliant century against Mumbai. Azharuddin’s impressive performances in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy also earned him an IPL contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the 2021 IPL season.
