Sediqullah Atal is a promising left-handed opening batsman from Afghanistan, born on August 12, 2001, in Logar, Afghanistan. His cricketing journey began in the local leagues of Logar, where his talent quickly became apparent.
Atal’s early life in a conflict-affected region instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility and a disciplined approach to the game. He started playing cricket in school, eventually joining an academy to refine his skills. His dedication led to his selection for the Afghanistan Under-19 national team in 2018, marking the beginning of his professional career.
Sediqullah Atal Domestic Cricket Debut
He made his Twenty20 debut on 7 September 2020, for Kabul Eagles in the 2020 Shpageeza Cricket League. Prior to his Twenty20 debut, he was named in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his List A debut on 17 October 2021, for Band-e-Amir Region in the 2021 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament.
In November 2021, Sediqullah’s first-class debut came in the match of Boost vs Band-Region at Kandahar, And he has got a chance to play 17 first-class matches so far, In which he scored 810 runs.
International Cricket Career
If we are talking about Sediqullah Atal’s international cricket career, he was first included in the Afghanistan T20 National team by the Afghanistan Cricket Board in March 2023. He made his debut on March 27, 2023, playing against Pakistan. Additionally, he was also included as a reserve player in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Following his T20I debut, Atal made his One Day International (ODI) debut on November 6, 2024, against Bangladesh at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. He then made his Test debut on December 26, 2024, against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
