Early Life and Domestic Career
Johnson’s cricketing journey began in Adelaide, where he showcased his talent from a young age. He made his List A debut for South Australia during the 2017-18 JLT One-Day Cup on October 12, 2017, against Victoria. In this match, he bowled ten overs, taking one wicket for 72 runs, contributing to South Australia’s 11-run victory.
Despite facing setbacks due to injuries, including a stress fracture in his foot that sidelined him for an extended period, Johnson’s resilience saw him return to domestic cricket. His impressive performances in South Australian Premier Cricket earned him a spot in the 2020-21 Marsh One-Day Cup squad.
In the Big Bash League (BBL), Johnson was initially named in the Adelaide Strikers squad for the 2020-21 season but did not feature in any matches.
He later made his BBL debut with the Brisbane Heat on January 11, 2023, against the Perth Scorchers. Throughout the season, he played ten matches, including the final, and established himself as a reliable death bowler. His consistent performances were pivotal in the Heat’s successful campaigns.
Johnson’s first-class debut came on February 20, 2023, for South Australia against Victoria. He delivered remarkable figures of 6/87 in the first innings.
