Teams With Most BBL Titles Winning List: The Big Bash League has undoubtedly been amongst the most popular T20 franchise leagues alongside the IPL in the last few years for its competitive contests. The league was introduced in 2011 and since then it has grown in stature as the tournament witnessed some thrilling contests. Eight teams participate in this event. The league has provided a big platform for some upcoming cricketers to highlight their talent.

1. Perth Scorchers, 5 Titles
Perth Scorchers have dominated the tournament since it was introduced in 2011. The Perth outfit has won the trophy 5 times. The team has shown consistency in all departments and their ability to adjust to different conditions has been second to none.
They won the trophy in 2013-14, 2014-15, 2016-17, 2021-22 & 2022-23. Adam Voges led the team to wins during the 2013-14 & 2014-15 seasons. Ashton Turner was the captain when the team won the trophy in 2021-22 & 2022-23. The team has depth in all departments.
2. Sydney Sixers, 3 Titles
Sydney Sixers won their first BBL trophy in 2011-12 under the captaincy of former Australia wicketkeeper batter Brad Haddin. Sydney Sixers team management opted for a mix of youth and experience in their squad.
The current captain Moises Henriques has led the team with authority and his calmness under pressure has helped the team. The team won two trophies under his leadership in 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively.
3. Brisbane Heat, 2 Titles
Brisbane Heat won two BBL trophies in 2012-13 and 2023-24 respectively. Former Australia all-rounder James Hopes was the captain during the 2012-13 season but in the final Chris Hartley was the captain as Hopes couldn’t play due to an injury.
During the 2023-24 season, Usman Khwaja was the captain when the team won the final. The team management has opted for a combination that provided balance in the bowling and the batting department when the team won the trophies in these two seasons.
4. Melbourne Renegades, 1 Title
Former Australian opener Aaron Finch led the team to its first BBL trophy win in 2018-19. Coach Andrew McDonald led the team management. Finch was spot-on with his field placements and the team had a plan for every team and every opposition batter. As a captain Finch led the team with aggression and discipline.
The team showcased some brilliant fielding especially the ground fielding. The team’s catching was at its best especially at the boundary.
5. Adelaide Strikers, 1 Title
Former Australian batter George Bailey showcased clarity as a captain with his bowling changes with the new ball that helped his bowlers take crucial wickets during the 2017-18 BBL when the team won the trophy.
The team gelled well under his captaincy as the right-handed batter used all his experience of playing in Australian domestic cricket.
6. Sydney Thunder, 1 Title
Former Australian player Michael Hussey captained the team with his clever on-field changes in the bowling department as well as field placements during the powerplay. Hussey employed two fielders inside the ring during the first six overs against batters who were capable of hitting the ball on the up .
His move to operate a spinner from one end and a pacer from the other end on slow wickets created problems for the batting side. Sydney Thunder won the BBL trophy under his captaincy during the 2015-16 season.
