Domestic Cricket Career
Zak’s journey in cricket gained momentum during the 2020–21 National Under‑19 Tournament, where he emerged as one of the joint leading wicket-takers for Canterbury and contributed valuable runs with the bat. His all-round performances helped Canterbury top their group in that tournament.
List A, First Class & T20s debut
He made his List A debut for Canterbury in February 2022 during the Ford Trophy, followed by his first-class debut in March 2022 in the Plunket Shield. He also shined in Hawke Cup cricket, scoring 92 runs and taking six wickets on debut for Canterbury Country, and later notched up a career-best score of 161 in another match.
In the Super Smash T20 2022–23 season, Zak was Canterbury Kings’ joint leading wicket-taker, picking up 12 wickets in seven games. His performances earned him the Bowler of the Year award for Canterbury for two consecutive seasons.
International Career
Zak Foulkes made his T20 International debut for New Zealand on 21 April 2024 against Pakistan. He impressed with the ball, taking regular wickets and maintaining an economy rate below 8.0. As of now, he has played 13 T20Is, taking 15 wickets with best figures of 3/20.
He made his ODI debut on 19 November 2024 against Sri Lanka, but the match was abandoned due to rain before he could bat or bowl.

On 7 August 2025, Zak made his Test debut against Zimbabwe. He had a dream start, taking 4 wickets for 38 runs in the first innings and playing a crucial role alongside Matt Henry in bowling out Zimbabwe for just 125.
