Things have been going quite well for Sarfaraz Khan lately. When the Indian team was struggling against the Kiwis in the Bengaluru Test match, he played a crucial innings of 150 runs, scoring his maiden Test century.
But Just before the start of the 2nd Test match, he also became a father. And we wish Sarfaraz Khan all the best for his future performances for India and a happy personal life. However, as far as the 2nd Test match is concerned, his place doesn’t seem to be certain in the Indian team’s playing XI.
Shubman Gill’s return in 2nd Test after Injury
Shubman Gill, who missed the first Test due to an injury, is available for the 2nd Test match. This means that with Gill’s return, he will definitely bat at number three. Meanwhile, KL Rahul will bat at number six, as confirmed by the team’s assistant coach, Ryan Ten Doschate.
And Ryan’s statement makes it clear that the chances of KL Rahul being dropped from the second Test are negligible. However, KL’s performance in the first Test was not satisfactory.
Indian team is forced to drop Sarfaraz Khan from the playing 11 in 2nd Test Match
Sarfaraz was given an opportunity in the first Test when Gill wasn’t part of the team. He made the most of this opportunity by scoring a 150-run innings for the team. Now, with Gill’s return and KL likely to play, there seems to be no clear place for Sarfaraz in the playing XI. Undoubtedly, he’s in form, and even if the team management is considering playing him, dropping him might become a necessity for Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir.
Note: However, no official notification has been issued by the BCCI regarding this matter yet. Only some cricket news websites are circulating such news.
