Ishan Porel Domestic Career
Ishan Porel made his name after his outstanding performance with the ball for India U-19 in the 2018 Under-19 World Cup. Talking about his Domestic Career, Porel made his First-class debut for Bengal on November 9, 2017, against Vidarbha at Kalyani. He was impressive on his debut as he picked up four wickets in the first innings.
In 2018, Porel was also part of the Indian U-19 squad for the ICC U19 World Cup 2018. He did not play for the major part of the tournament because of his injury but still played a crucial part in India’s Victory. He came into the spotlight, in the semifinal match against Pakistan. Ishan picked up 4 wickets in his 6 over spell at a brilliant economy rate of 2.83.
He was again impressive in the final against Australia, where he picked up 2 wickets in his 7 overs. Talking about his List A and T20 stats, Porel has picked up 47 wickets in 30 games in List A cricket. He has also picked up 29 wickets in his 20 games in the shortest format as well. His outstanding spell came for India C in the 2019 Deodhar Trophy final where he dismissed quality batters like Vijay Shankar, Nitesh Rana, Kedar Jadhav, Parthiv Patel and ended his spell with the figures of 5/43 in his 10 overs.
Ishan Porel IPL Career
Even after performing very well in the domestic circuit Porel did not get any buyers in the 2018 and 2019 IPL auctions. He was finally picked up by the KL Rahul led Punjab Kings ahead of the 2020 IPL season for his base price of INR 20 lakhs. Porel is yet to make his IPL debut but the skill and ability he possesses indicate that he is not far away from his dream debut. His IPL coach has also praised him and said that he is the right backup for their key pacer Mohammad Shami.
