KL Shrijith was born on August 12 1996, in Bangalore, Karnataka, is among the brightest talents in Indian cricket and is a wicketkeeper and left-handed batter. He can also bowl right arm off break. Shrijith’s story is a mix of hard work, determination and dedication. He was bought by the Mumbai Indians franchise during the 2025 IPL auctions.

Shrijith comes from a modest background. His father Lakshmanan was a cricket enthusiast and Shrijith was motivated to take up the sport as a profession due to his father’s love for the sport. His father expired just weeks before Shrijith played his first first-class match during the 2024-25 season which was unfortunate. He started playing cricket at a very young age.
Domestic Career & IPL Debut
In his debut match, Shrijith scored 110 in 153 balls against Uttar Pradesh. He made his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy in January 2021. During the 2024 Maharaja T20 Trophy, Shrijith scored 349 runs in 10 innings including a century and 2 half centuries thus helping his team Hubli Tigers make it to the semifinals that brought him in the limelight.
Shrijith was listed at 281 during the IPL auctions but his performances at the domestic level were enough for Mumbai Indians franchise owners to rely on him. Due to these performances Mumbai Indians team management and franchise owners bought him for a sum of INR 30 lakhs. During the Vijay Hazare Trophy that began after the auctions, Shrijith scored a brilliant unbeaten 150 in 101 balls helping Karnataka chase a big score of 383 against Mumbai.
