The world’s most enormous Cricket Stadium in Motera has been renamed Narendra Modi Stadium. It was done on 24th February 2021, when the third test of England’s tour to India was scheduled to be played there.
It also hosted the event ‘Namaste Trump’ when US President Donald Trump visited India in 2020.
Let’s know more about the stadium itself.
Part of a Sport Enclave
It is a part of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave, a natatorium, track and field sports facilities, a tennis and hockey stadium, a skating arena, and much more. It is spread over 220 Acres.
The location of Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium is the same as the old one, which is in Motera. Motera is situated in North-East side of Ahmedabad, close to the state capital of Gandhinagar.
Seating Capacity
With a seating capacity of 1,32,000 spectators, it is the world’s most enormous Cricket Stadium. Also, it is only second among the other stadiums in the world. Only North Korea’s Rungrado 1st May Stadium is more significant in seating capacity than Narendra Modi Stadium.
Before this, Melbourne’s famous MCG was the most considerable Cricket ground globally, which has the capacity of 1,00,024 spectators.
List of Cricket Stadiums with Large Capacities:

Narendra Modi Stadium Design
There are three entry points to the stadium, and one of them is even linked with the ongoing Ahmedabad Metro project. There are 76 corporate boxes, a 55-room clubhouse, one Olympic size swimming pool, and four dressing rooms. The parking space can handle 3,000 cars and 10,000 two-wheelers.
One unique feature of the stadium is that there are no pillars. Even the floodlights are provided on the rim of the roof. It is also built so that spectators will fill the lower level first and then move on to the upper levels.
It will give a full crowd atmosphere to Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium even when smaller events occur.
Narendra Modi Stadium Project
The project was completed by Larson & Tubro, and it started in 2016. The stadium was planned to be rebuilt in two years, and the estimated cost was 7 billion Indian Rupees. However, it was completed in February 2020, and I was given a chance to host the pink ball test for England Vs. India in 2021.
