Mohammad Saif Hassan was born on 30 October 1998 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He grew up with a strong passion for cricket and pursued the sport from an early age. His father worked abroad, and Saif spent part of his childhood in Saudi Arabia before moving back to Bangladesh to take cricket more seriously. Known for his discipline and hard work, he often put in long hours at the nets, even beyond scheduled training sessions.
Saif Hassan’s Cricket Career
Saif made his mark in Bangladesh’s domestic cricket with Dhaka Division and Barisal Division. In January 2017, he created history by becoming the youngest Bangladeshi player to score a double century in first-class cricket, making 204 runs in the National Cricket League. He has since been a consistent performer in the Dhaka Premier League and other domestic competitions, where he has accumulated thousands of runs across first-class and List A formats. In first-class cricket, he has scored more than 3,900 runs at an average close to 40, while in List A matches, he has surpassed 5,000 runs. Though primarily a batsman, he occasionally contributes with his right-arm off-spin.
International Debut and Career
Saif Hassan made his Test debut for Bangladesh in February 2020 against Pakistan. He later earned his T20I cap in November 2021, also against Pakistan. Although his start at the international level has been modest, he has shown glimpses of promise, particularly in the shorter format. In Tests, he has played six matches so far, scoring over 150 runs, while in T20Is he has delivered better performances, including a few half-centuries, with his highest score in the 50–60 run range.
