Also, Niroshan Dickwella scored 33 runs and was supported by late cameos from Udana and Shanaka to take the team to a good total of 174. Kiwi skipper Tim Southee was the pick among bowlers taking two scalps while Mitchell Santner took one wicket.

In chasing the target, New Zealand top-order failed to give a good start and were limping on 39/3 on the board. Ross Taylor and Colin De Grandhomme stabilized the innings scoring 48 and 44 runs respectively. Daryl Mitchell and Santner also made handy contributions to ensure victory for the visitors. T20 Specialist Malinga along with debutant Wanidu Hasaranga bowled good spells taking two wickets each in losing cause for their team.

Sri Lanka will be eager to bounce back and keep series alive defeating New Zealand whereas Kiwis will want to continue the winning momentum ahead and seal the series in the second T20I.

Ross Taylor has performed exceptionally well from past two years and is in good form. He also scored 41* runs in practice match and 48 runs in the first T20I.

Kusal Mendis is a talented performer and scored brilliant 79-run knock in the first T20I opening the innings.

Martin Guptill has the talent to play a big knock but failed throughout WC’19. His form in T20 blast was excellent and will be eager to perform well in this series. He scored 11 runs in the last match.

Avishka Fernando is an attacking batsman and has performed brilliantly in limited chances. He failed in the first encounter.

Colin Munro has a good record in this format and scored 48* runs in practice match. He can score at a blistering strike rate. However, He got out on a golden duck in the first T20I.

Other Options: Shehan Jayasuriya

Shehan Jayasuriya is a right spin all-rounder and can be equally effective in either of the departments. He will bat in the lower order and will bowl fewer overs.


Primary Options: Colin De Grandhomme, Isuru Udana, Dasun Shanaka, M Santner, Daryl Mitchell.

Colin De Grandhomme has performed well in recent times. He scored 44 runs in the last match after getting promotion in the batting order. He also starred in the second test and is a must pick in NZ vs SL Dream11 team.

Isuru Udana is a lethal pacer and can be quite effective in death overs with his variations. He can also score attacking cameos with the bat. He scored 15* runs in just 3 balls in the first T20.

Dasun Shanaka is an attacking batsman and handy medium-pace bowler. He scored 17* runs in the first match.

Kiwi Stand-in Skipper Tim Southee is in awful form recently but bowled good spell in the first match taking two crucial wickets. He can also score quick runs with the bat.
